SAMES was established in 1979 to bring the benefits of micro-electronics to the Southern African region. The company has long since expanded beyond the borders of this region. Today SAMES exports over 90% of its production to 35 countries in various parts of the world. SAMES is a wholly owned subsidiary of Labat Africa Ltd, a diversified group listed on the JSE.
